Gear Design Task
The gear design is today already a kind of sunset technology,
but a gear designer is still delighted if he gets some support
in finding a suitable solution in the parameter wilderness.
The Gear Design Wizard is an attempt to provide  an easy
to handle help without needing much gear knowledge.
I have analysed a huge number of  gears in detail
in the days of working in a gear design department.
The gears were often designed using similar
existing gear sets as a template.
Starting without any reference is a real challenge
when not much experience is available.
Reading old style handbooks or using modern AI-chats
is possible, but leads often on a path with many setbacks.
The Wizard has some basic designing functions included
which differ from the common use of parameter variation.
It provides a reliable gear design as starting point
for fine tuning the gears for special purposes.
The user manual gives an overview for the use of the
application and some special design topics are explained,
for which has to be taken care.
If anyone is interested in more detailed know how
for the design and the analysis of cylindrical gears,
there is special literature available
(for which I am a co-author):
